Ride at your own judgement
Cartorider is a planning aid, not a navigation authority. Routes are computed from public map data that can be wrong, out of date, or legally or physically impassable on the day. Road conditions, closures, weather, surfaces and access rules are yours to check. You are always responsible for where and how you ride, and for obeying the law. Never let a planned line override your own judgement of the road in front of you.
The service
Cartorider lets you plan motorcycle routes, export them as GPX files, and share them. Planning and export work without an account. An account adds saved rides that sync across devices and hosted share links. We may change or improve the service over time.
Your routes are yours
You own the routes and content you create. So that the product can work, you give us permission to store and process them, and, when you publish a share link, to host that frozen copy for anyone who has the link until you revoke it.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no scraping at scale, no attempting to break or overload it, no using it to infringe others' rights, and no reselling it as your own. We may suspend accounts that do.
No warranty, limited liability
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the same extent, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on routes, times, surfaces or elevation data. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Attribution
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the ODbL. Exported GPX files carry this credit. Elevation comes from NASA SRTM, which is in the public domain. The planner is rendered by Mapbox.
Route videos are rendered on open data: satellite imagery from the Copernicus Sentinel-2 global mosaic (CC BY 4.0) blended with orthophotos from European national mapping agencies, and terrain assembled by Mapterhorn from the Copernicus DEM and national elevation models. Every exported video carries these credits burned into the frame, naming the sources that ride actually flew over.
The legal frame
